Q. "I don't have a computer at home/in the car/etc. How can I listen to Tropic Wave Radio programming?"

A. You can listen to Tropic Wave Radio programming on a myriad of devices. Devices such as the Logitech Squeezebox and Reciva branded streaming radio players can playback our programming at home, while Windows Mobile devices like PDAs and some cell phones can playback our programming while on the road as well. Q. "What are the requirements for viewing/listening to Tropic Wave Radio programming?"

A. The computer requirements for our programming are as follows:
  • Windows Media Player 9 or higher
  • Monitor capable of 1024x768 or higher
  • Compatible sound card (included with most PCs)
  • Quality speakers

Q. "I'm using dial-up and I'm having trouble viewing video programs."

A. Our Live Video link is primarily for those who have a broadband/dsl (high-speed) internet. Many on Dialup-ISP can also use our video, depending on your connect speed. Try and if you cannot get useful video, then click the "Listen now!" link to listen only.

Q. "I'm using Internet Explorer 6/7 and I'm having trouble viewing video programming."

A. If you are using Internet Explorer and experience problems you may need to update to Internet Explorer version 8. You may download the latest Internet Explorer from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/default.aspx.

Q. "I hear a ticking sound when listening to a program."

A. If you would like to disable the "tick" or "click" sound when listening to our shows follow these instructions:

Windows XP/NT/Server 2003

  1. Open the Start Menu/ Settings / Control Panel
  2. Double click on the "Sounds" (or Sounds and Audio Devices), then select Sounds Tab. Scroll down in the Program events window until you reach "Windows Explorer" and under this you will find "Start Navigation".
  3. Click on "Start Navigation" and you will see a .wav file appear in the "Name:" box. This is the sound that is associated with the click sound.
  4. In the "Name:" drop down menu, select (None) and then hit "OK". This will set no sound to be played when you're navigating on the web.

Windows 95/98/2000

  1. Open the Start Menu / Settings / Control Panel.
  2. Double click on the "Sounds and Multimedia" control panel.
  3. Choose the "Sounds: tab, scroll down in the "Sound Events" window until you reach "Windows Explorer" and under this you will find "Start Navigation".
  4. In the "Name:" drop down menu, select (None) and then hit "OK". This will set no sound to be played when you're navigating on the web.
Keep in mind that this will remove the click sound from hitting buttons and links on all web sites you visit until you set it back. This is a safe change to make and does not affect any other functionality of your Windows Explorer browser.

Q. "I can't find the podcast/xml link for the archives. How can I download archives to my portable media player?"

A. Please follow the proceeding steps to locate the podcast link(s):
  1. Click "Archives", which can be located in the menu, you will be presented with a list of shows available.
  2. Select the program you would like to retrieve podcasts for.
  3. Once the page has loaded, scroll to the bottom of the archives list, where you will see a link titled "Podcast"
  4. Clicking the "Podcast" link will automatically add the podcast to your iTunes podcast subscriptions.

Q. "I'm using Firefox, and I can't see any video!"

A. If you are having trouble watching video programming in Mozilla Firefox, please download the Windows Media Player Firefox Plugin Installer. You will need to restart your browser prior to attempting to watch our video programming after installing the plugin.
